Settlers Tavern and Sidekick Café Update

Dear friends of Settlers Tavern,
As you have likely heard, the Government has announced major restrictions for the hospitality industry that will take effect from midday today. The most current information indicates that we will effectively shutdown our on-premise operations for a period of time. We understand that take-away food and beverage sales will still be permitted, and we are considering these options…stay up to date on our Facebook page.
Given the short notice of this announcement, we will be working together to provide you with more information as soon as possible.

In these most confronting of times, our heartfelt thoughts are with you and your loved ones. We are ever so thankful to still be doing what we love the most, and we greatly appreciate your continued support. For us and for everyone, our priority is containing coronavirus, and it’s one day at a time right now. We can report that as of today our doors are open and our kitchen is keeping on, with preparing comforting and hearty tavern fare. Life goes on with care and compassion, and a new understanding of our priorities.

Our team is hard at work, vigilantly sanitizing every piece of cutlery and glassware, and every menu cover, table, and chair from morning to night. We have limited our patron numbers to less than half of our normal capacity to allow plenty of space for social distancing as directed by our government.

You will notice other subtle changes, like wrapped cutlery, and the conspicuous absence of tomato sauce bottles on the tables. Not to worry though, we’ll be happy to bring you the sauce. We have temporarily refrained from providing crayons to our little friends, so you might want to bring your own. We urge parents to protect their children by limiting their movements, and casual contact with the floor and other potentially contaminated surfaces.

Next door, at our beloved Sidekick Café, freshly baked muffins and your favourite coffee or chai latte are available from 7:30am. On the advice of the health department, we have temporarily stopped handling brought-in personal cups and are restricted to using our own commercially sanitised crockery, or compostable take- aways.

Alas, we have been forced to postpone our live music calendar due to government mandated crowd density restrictions. We will still be soothing the airwaves with recorded tunes, inside and out, until we can fire the stage back up. This has been particularly painful, and our heartfelt thoughts go out to the many talented artists who have helped make the Tavern what it is. We can’t wait to see you back.

Our thoughts are with everyone. We will get through this together. Take care, be well, and we’ll keep you posted from our end of town.
