SHANGARA JIVE

Shangarajive bring their vibrant Afro-fusion sound to the stage on 9 January, led by Zimbabwean-born singer George Joe. Formed in 2002, this Perth-based band blends traditional African rhythms with modern grooves, featuring mbira, rich percussion, and songs in English and Shona that celebrate African life, culture, and joy. Multiple WA Music Award winners, Shangarajive have supported legendary artists including Thomas Mapfumo and Oliver Mtukudzi.
Joining them is Rumbie Tavaziva, a powerful Zimbabwean singer-songwriter who has toured internationally with the late Chiwoniso Maraire and performed at festivals across Europe, Mauritius, and South Africa. Newly arrived in Australia, Rumbie now performs live with the authentic Shangara Jive, making this a special night of world-class African music and energy
