For 2019’s follow up\, ‘Chase the Sun’\, they drew from soul/funk/world music and added a slamming five-piece horn section. The title track is a collaboration with MC Optamus from WA hip hop legends\, Downsyde.\n\nSteve Hensby is a Berklee College of Music graduate and WAMI nominated musician who also works as a session player in the Perth area. DESCRIPTION:Live Music Australia – an Australian Government initiative\nFREE ENTRY\nDave Rastrix Trio play a mix of jazz-reggae and world-soul styles and is comprised of three busy session musicians\, who join together to play with the spirit of spontaneously and passion\, keeping listeners on the edge of their seats\, or dancing. \nDavid Rastrick is a trumpet player\, multiple instrumentalist and songwriter who has played with literally hundreds of bands throughout south-west Australia. Rastrick toured Australia with his solo show last year. In the trio\, David Rastrick (aka Dave Rastrix) fronts the group on vocals\, trumpet and flugelhorn\, while concurrently underpinning the sound with fretless bass. The flugelhorn is a type of trumpet with a warmer tone\, and made popular by trumpeters such as Chuck Mangione and Hugh Masekela. \n“I enjoy diversity in my life\,” said Dave Rastrick. “I like manifesting this in my music\, and draw from a heap of different musical styles to make an interesting repertoire.”\n \nKevin McDonald is one of the most in demand musicians in the south west\, with his command of guitar and bass in all jazz and contemporary styles and a diploma in classical guitar.  Kevin studied at the prestigious Berklee School of Music along with fellow Canadian musician Diana Krall. Kevin plays in about one-hundred duos\, several jazz bands\, country\, rock and soul bands\, and fronts his own guitar-frenzy surf music band ‘The Frothers’. \nRastrick and McDonald combine their diverse experience\, talents and musical passions to intersect in a rare musical meeting.

Individually they have played just about every major venue and festival in Australia with band members such as Gavin and Bart Pigram\, Tonchi McIntosh\, Staf Smith\, Dan Houston\, Falil Salahuddeen and George Bishop – bringing a wealth of experience to the band. True to themselves\, the world is in their songs: Yawuru\, Mexico\, Japan\, The Philippines\, Portugal\, Europe\, Africa\, and Australia\, lots of Australia. It’s dance-able\, from-the-heart\, gentlemanly\, cheeky\, lyrical\, last-drinks-dub-freestyle. It’s simple\, intense and pure: well worth a look! Please do not fall… \nPosted by Settlers Tavern Margaret River on Tuesday\, 8 September 2020 \n\n\nPPC play a handful of WA shows to celebrate the release of their brand new track Mr.Prism – these will be the band’s first headline shows of 2020\, get your ticket so you don’t miss out.\nTake the trail out of Perth via Leederville and keep on driving\, and you might just stumble across an old horse shed – one where weirdness roams free. Across the bridge from said shed\, house parties rage until the early hours and beyond\, while around the corner there’s a sky-high pile of trash that acts as a makeshift home for the local rat population. It’s here\, amongst jam sessions that would last six-hours plus\, that the wacky\, sprawling sound of Psychedelic Porn Crumpets was born. Psychedelic Porn Crumpets’ night-long jam sessions and unconventional abodes are just the tip of their iceberg of happy accidents. \nJack and pals needed something visceral. “We took the harder approach – big riffs\,” he says with an audible grin\, “When you’re on a site for six days a week\, it’s nice to get back in the evening and go ‘RAAAAARGH’ into a mic.” That primal\, intuitive style followed them through to their live shows\, which would see the band writing a song one evening\, and playing it in the local pubs the following night\, inciting mosh-pits and wig-outs with barely a pause for breath. \nThat unforgettable name is yet another example of their go-it-alone approach – “I wanted something memorable like marmite – you either love it or you hate it\,” laughs Jack. One thing’s for sure – the Psychedelic Porn Crumpets’ tale is already one for the ages.

DESCRIPTION:From a wide range of musical backgrounds\, Margaret River’s RiverBugs share a common love of swing era jazz standards with a sprinkling of rhythm and blues.  Since forming in 2017 they have a great following in the south west. \nSinger Janine Andrews came from a professional jazz background in Paris before settling in Margaret River.  Bassist Viv Booker is a veteran of the Perth Jazz scene and Scott Wise on guitar\, vocals and occasional blues harmonica is a newcomer to the band’s jazz repertoire but has a long history in blues\, rock and folk music circles.  Together they make a unique combination as a trio and whenever they can\, they pull in Louise Marsh on saxophone and drummer Gary Larkin. \nThe RiveBugs really enjoy their shows and their audiences do too!
