SUMMARY:Gypsy Lou and the Kingfishers
DESCRIPTION:Originating in Perth\, Western Australia\, this fabulous five- piece ensemble brings their signature style of uplifting melodic pop-folk to audiences. Weaving strands of Celtic and earthy\, trad-folk with warm and hearty three part vocal harmony\, they entertain with truly dance-able\, sing-able\, soul-warming music. \nThe ‘GypsyLou’ duo was formed in 2016 by singer/songwriters Carrie Lee and Katie McMahon. Having met in a choir where they both sang in the alto section\, they founded the duo on their love of singing in harmony together. GypsyLou quickly grew in popularity and released a six-track EP\, ‘Girl in Blue’\, in 2018.\nWishing to build on their sound\, they began to take on other musicians shortly afterwards. Matt Stapleton now joins them on fiddle\, Ross Daglish on the double bass and John ‘J.D.’ Donoghue on percussion. Together they are ‘Gypsylou and the Kingfishers’.

SUMMARY:Winston Surfshirt [SOLD OUT]
DESCRIPTION:Saturday\, 7th December\, 9:30pm.\n \nWINSTON SURFSHIRT RETURN WITH NEW SINGLE\n“SMILE”\nBUY/STREAM HERE \n+ ANNOUNCE SOPHOMORE ALBUM  \nAPPLE CRUMBLE \nOUT THIS NOVEMBER  VIA SWEAT IT OUT \n+ SHARE REGIONAL TOUR DATES \nSydney-based funk\, soul and R&B act Winston Surfshirt today release their latest single\, “Smile”paired with the announcement of their second studio album\, Apple Crumble\, due out this November via Sweat It Out. The six-piece celebrate the news with a fresh set of regional tour dates\, as they debut their new material live across Australia this summer. \nPremiered on triple j’s Good Nights\, “Smile” enlists brass hooks folded with shimmying beats\, enhanced by Winston’s unmistakable cocktail of sultry R&B and soul-driven vocals. More slowed-down in approach than the disco movement of recent track “Make A Move”\, today’s release ties a bow on the signature mood their loyal fans crave\, and is certain to crack grins and stir visions of summertime in listeners everywhere. Funk-dipped grooves and catchy rhythms point to smiling words of love\, as the esteemed act get set to embark on the next round of their musical story. \nWinston says of the single:“I’ve been with the same woman for 14 years and she has the most emphatic smile. I think I was always meant to write this song…” \nToday’s new music and album announcement is coupled with a regional summer tour for loyal fans to get around. The eight-date leg kicks off at Langhorne Creek’s Handpicked Festival on November 9 before heading to Byron Bay’s Beach Hotel on November 15. The band next arrive at Maroochydore’s Sol Bar on November 16\, followed by Spilt Milk Canberra on November 23\, a Uni Bar takeover in Hobart on November 29 and a return to Spilt Milk Ballarat on November 30. Wrapping up\, Bunbury’s Prince of Wales receives a dose of new music on December 6\, before a final show ignites Margaret River’s Settlers Tavern on December 7. \nApple Crumble marks Winston Surfshirt’s second full-length release\, following on from their applauded 2017 debut\, Sponge Cake. The hit album bound together brass\, hip-hop sensibilities and airy vocals to receive nods from international tastemakers\, including Beats 1 host Zane Lowe\, Sir Elton John\, Jason Bentley (KCRW)\, Huw Stephens\, Phil Taggart (BBC Radio 1)\, Lauren Laverne (BBC Radio 6)\, and triple j feature album. \nHaving developed a cult following for their smooth style and raucous live shows\, the band’s unique blend of funk\, soul and hip-hop originally emerged as the solo project of singer/rapper/producer Winston Surfshirt\, before organically adopting other local artists and snowballing into what is now a musical collective filling each stage they grace to the brim. \nFrom a sell-out debut national Sponge Cake tour in 2017\, to festival billings at Splendour In The Grass\, Spilt Milk\, Falls Festival\, Field Day and sold-out British & European shows\, Winston Surfshirt continue to sell out crowds at home and abroad. SUMMARY:THE FLOORS
DESCRIPTION:Friday December 6th\, 9:30pm. Free Entry.\n“Come Unstuck”\, the third full length album from The Floors was unearthed and born in a rural abode in France while the band toured Europe in 2018. \nLuke Dux speaks about the writing process: \n“It’s a rare thing to find all 3 of us in a room together\, touring with others bands keeps us apart\, which is most likely why we still tolerate each other. With no outside distractions and a plentiful supply of wine\, cider\, beer\, hash and cheese we spent 4 days jamming and writing in a small farmhouse in the middle of the French countryside. The perfect algorithm of quintessential + cabin fever= songs.”  \nThe album speaks the idea of growing up and coming to terms with the distortion of life’s twists and turns. The title of the album\, inspired by Kurt Vonnegut\, ties in with the nation that we all lose our way at some point. \nThe Floors previous album “Beat It Down” was recorded on an 8 track tape machine however this time\, a broken tape-machine yielded an opportunity for The Floors to explore new sonic depth in their recording. A change in recording style saw the band move from live tracking\, to a combination of the former\, plus the added bonus of over-dubbing and more complex layering. \n“The large room at Rada studios allows us to play live together and turn up as loud as we like with little bleed into the other mics. Finding the tape machine broken was a bummer at first but I think we ended up with a fuller\, more realized record\, rather than limiting ourselves to 8 tracks and no overdubs\, like we usually do\, we could record 600 plus bass guitar tracks.” \nRecorded with producer Dan Carroll at Rada studios\, The Floors have emerged with “Come Unstuck”; it’s all the same hard-hitting\, bare-knuckled blues music you’ve come to know from The Floors\, but with a few extra nuts and bolts thrown into the equation for good measure. \nThe album will be set free exclusively online and on vinyl August 26 th via BEAST records
