Not to mention Latin Jazz numbers such as “Manteca” by Dizzy Gillespie and Mambo Influenciado by Chucho Valdes and the Afro Cuban Messengers. \nIt’s definitely a cultural experience and journey whenever you get the opportunity to see Yambeque perform live.

All round legend & Sound Bound Festival favourite (since 2010)\, her funky style will fill the dance floor. Bring your crew\, posse\, besties or worsties and bust a move. \nHer love for DJing began when she was 16 and working at Central Station Records. She quickly became an avid record collector\, and bought turntables instead of a car much to her parents dismay. Her first residency was at the legendary Fuel Bar when she was almost 18\, where she soon moved on to promoting and coordinating the music for the venue. Residencies all over Perth followed and eventually Mandy achieved her dream of playing at Geisha – where she became a resident for 2 years. \nShe has been involved in Minimal Exposure gigs\, played drum and bass with the Roller crew\, The Beat Suite with Sharif Galal and Micah\, Full Frequency and Rhythm Trippin on RTR and has featured on Triple J mix up.

Citing reggae\, world\, latin and dub inspirations\, the tribe of brothers are leaving their aqua-green endless beach paradise and coming south for their annual tour. Individually they have played just about every major venue and festival in Australia with band members such as Gavin and Bart Pigram\, Tonchi McIntosh\, Staf Smith\, Dan Houston\, Falil Salahuddeen and George Bishop – bringing a wealth of experience to the band. True to themselves\, the world is in their songs: Yawuru\, Mexico\, Japan\, The Philippines\, Portugal\, Europe\, Africa\, and Australia\, lots of Australia. It’s dance-able\, from-the-heart\, gentlemanly\, cheeky\, lyrical\, last-drinks-dub-freestyle. It’s simple\, intense and pure: well worth a look! It’s a tiny bit of what Broome music sounds like today. It’s The Mexicans!
