Riley Peace

Riley Peace (WA)

Thursday 20th April, 9pm. Free Entry.

From a childhood spread across Europe & Australia, Riley Pearce's desire to explore and discover only seems to be reflected through his music.

Pearce combines a mix of percussive guitar, raw and captivating vocals and an honest brand of songwriting to achieve both a chilled and upbeat vibe in his songs – perfect for a road-trip.

With two EPs now under his belt (We Are Fools 2013, Outside The Lines 2016), the 23yr old singer/songwriter has been receiving a lot of industry praise. Garnering features from key music blogs Indie Shuffle, BuzzFeed and Stereofox, the love flowed into Triple J and community radio support and an impressive array of support slots for the likes of Kim Churchill, Lifehouse & Little May in recent times.

With Eric Clapton's Unplugged record constantly playing around the house and a dad and uncle who shared a similar love for the guitar, Riley was perfectly primed to head in the same direction. However the first two years of his musical journey, he played guitar left-handed – mirroring musicians he saw on TV. A move from Melbourne to Perth two years later prompted a swap by his primary school music teacher.

Heading to a university commerce degree straight out of high school put music to the side in the form of a weekly busk around town. A few semesters and a dozen textbooks later, the creative in him won out. Pearce decided music was where his passion lay and a life bound to excel and ties was not particularly appealing.

His skilled songwriting and the constant encouragement from those around him to pursue his music career made it clear to him the path he would travel.

A lover of the darkness, the water and thought, Pearce finds his own influences in the sounds of Ben Howard, Jose Gonzalez and The Jezabels - Taking pride as a music comes first artist. Preferring to take the long road to achieve his success, a recent six-month journey to Montana allowed him to unearth his true songwriting and performing styling, returning to Perth with a suitcase full of new songs, inspiration and a clearer mind.
